“anti-christ”

“God tells us of the spirit of antichrist. When John penned this epistle in the first century, the spirit of antichrist was already present in the world. ‘Antichrist’ means any thing or any one that is ‘instead of’ Christ or ‘against’ Christ. It refers to any doctrine that is ‘instead of’ or ‘against’ Christ, or anyone embodying that doctrine. Not only is the spirit of antichrist in our world; the person of the Antichrist is coming to our world.”

~ Dr. Clarence Sexton, “Unto the Furtherance of the Gospel”, pp. 61-62, Copyright 2011

Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.”

~ 1John 2:22-23

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.”

~ 1John 4:1-3

“For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.”

~ 2John 7-11

“… ‘Anti’ has two meanings in Greek. ‘Anti’ means ‘instead of’, and also, against’.  The antichrist is against the Lord Jesus Christ, and he is also instead of or a replacement of the Lord Jesus…”

Therefore…stand-with-jesus

WHO best fits the Biblical description of “antichrist”?

What religious/ethnic group has been around even before the days of John, and is still guilty of both ~

1) denying Jesus Christ (as the Son of God, Who has already come)

AND,

2) is currently assuming the reverence (from misguided “evangelicals”) that belongs only to the Lord Jesus Christ????

  1. Glad to see that you believe in the “elect” of God. Does your view of the elect differ from the Calvinist view?

    • Yes, I’m sure that it does– Christ is “THE ELECT” (Isaiah 42 & 49 & 1Peter 2:6), and everyone that is ‘in Him’, is included in that Elect. As an example, just as Noah & his family got ‘in’ the Ark, so those who are ‘in’ Christ, shall be saved. Just as the Ark was “predestined to float”, so is Christ (A sure thing)–safe & secure. Scriptural “Predestination” applies to THE ELECT(Christ), and subsequently, all those in Christ are then (& only then) a part of the “Elect”. This is “not by works which we have done, but according to His mercy”. However, one must decide(by free will) to “get into” the Elect, no one (including God) will force someone into heaven. Being “included in the Elect” is for anyone, “whosoever will” (John 3:16; Romans 10:13; Revelation 22:17)
